A lesson in ‘Less is More’ when it comes to AI experiences.

Tasked to execute on a concept to visualise the 'Future You' for participants of the Seedly Personal Finance Festival held at the Marina Bay Sands, our main goal was to build for the best experience overall.

Ensuring speed of output, controlling usage cost and balancing the variability of unique generations were just some of the many factors at odds with one another to achieve the joy of a good result.

And because context is king when it comes to the quality of AI output, everything rested on how much choice to give to the user when gathering it.

For a great experience, getting participants to describe their future state took the fun out of it - it felt like they were being forced to do work.

Instead, narrowing the user-obtained input down to several multiple-choice questions made it about them - their choices, their future - but still keeping things light and fun.

And the decision to keep things ambiguous meant that what they received in return would be a surprise - a feeling of delight.
